Swappable trait-based architecture — every subsystem (provider, channel, tool, memory) is a pluggable trait. 22+ model providers, hybrid vector + full-text memory with optional PostgreSQL backend. Built-in migration tool from OpenClaw. Developed by Harvard/MIT/Sundai.Club community.
Ultra-lightweight variant by Sipeed (hardware company), purpose-built for their $10 RISC-V and ARM boards. Under 10MB RAM, boots in under 1 second on 0.6GHz single-core hardware. Runs on old Android phones via Termux. 95% of core code was AI-generated during a self-bootstrapping process. Cross-compiles to RISC-V, ARM, and x86 as a single static binary.
Container-isolated security model. Agents execute in Linux containers (Docker/Apple Container) with filesystem isolation — the agent literally cannot escape the container. ~500 lines core, built directly on Anthropic's Agent SDK. WhatsApp-first. "Skills over features" philosophy: contributors add Claude Code skills (like /add-telegram) that transform your fork, rather than adding features to the codebase.
Security-first design. Every tool runs inside a WebAssembly sandbox. Credentials are never exposed to tools — injected via Unix domain sockets from Keychain/1Password/Vault. Multi-layer prompt injection defense. Minimal channel support by design (fewer channels = fewer attack surfaces). Built for environments handling sensitive data.
Extreme minimalism. 678KB binary, approximately 1MB RAM. The smallest Claw variant with full assistant features. Written in Zig for systems-level performance. Broadest channel coverage alongside OpenClaw and ZeroClaw, despite the tiny footprint.
OpenClaw in approximately 400 lines of shell script. Uses Claude Code + tmux for the runtime. Self-healing, WhatsApp-connected. A proof of concept that the Claw pattern works even in bash — and a surprisingly effective one.
The ecosystem keeps growing: Autobot (Crystal, 2MB binary, kernel-enforced sandboxing), Mini-Claw (minimalist Telegram-native using Claude Pro/Max directly), ZeptoClaw (stateless function calls — perfect repeatability, zero drift), plus implementations in C on ESP32 microcontrollers ($5 hardware). New variants appear weekly.
